Product Description

Anything with the Chave name on the label is worth tasting. One of the great names of French wine, making sublime and extremely limited wines from Hermitage (we got three bottles of the current rouge to sell), they have recently branched out into negóciant bottlings of St-Joseph and Côtes-du-Rhône. Not one either to rest on the family laurels or put his name on anything substandard, Jean-Louis oversees the vineyards from which Mon Coeur is sourced. This is a Côtes-du-Rhône to change any mediocre opinion of the appellation: smoky and meaty on the nose, dark and beguiling, the sort of wine that invites you in no uncertain terms to spend some time with it. That time will be well-rewarded, too, with more of that smoky, savory plum, black cherry, and baked blackberry fruit, black pepper, rich and well-balanced with acidity. It opens up beautifully, too, gaining dimensions as it does, until you come to the last sip of the last glass, which is the best. (It would also repay some cellar time, too.) PAIRING: Braised Lamb Shank, White Bean and Sausage Stew SIZE: 750ml TYPE: Red VARIETY: GRENACHE BLEND REGION: Rhone Valley, FRANCE CASE PRICE: $300.00 $270.00
