Five hundred years of winemaking history is a good reason to try this wine. “L’Hereu” means “the heir” in Catalan, and into this bottle, the flagship sparkler of the estate, goes the accumulated wisdom of the Raventós family. Made with the traditional blend of native grapes, hand-harvested and biodynamically grown, vinified in a gravity-fed winery, it is a textured, fine-bubbled sparkler with pear and lemon fruit and a biscuitty baking spice layer on a backbone built of limestone minerality (so many great wines are built on limestone – not least Champagne) and the sterling acidity of cool-climate grapes. A delight to drink, and reminder why bubbly is the most celebratory of wines.
