Product Description

We at NWM have stringent requirements for all the wines we carry, but for Pinot Noir, which is closer to our heart than most, we simply can’t compromise. When you’ve had the best the grape can give, there’s no going back. (This is true of wine in general, too.) Pinot Noir resists overproduction and requires careful handling. Fickle, its tight bunches prone to rot and mildew, easy to ripen both too little and too much, it has been rightly called the heartbreak grape. Why does anyone bother to grow it? Well, open a bottle of Emerson Pinot Noir, and it’s immediately obvious. The subtle aromatic qualities, the balance of fruit, tannin, acidity, the multiple layers of flavors, the length, depth, breadth of the wine, the combination of medium body and intensity, the delicacy and power often indistinguishable from one another, all that makes Pinot Noir inspire such dedication and hard work. From a classic vintage in the southern Willamette Valley, where a long, cool growing season, southern exposure, and red clay soil make a perfect site for Pinot Noir to thrive, it has a pretty, gustful nose of red flowers and cherries. In the mouth, it shows the combination of finesse and power that makes Pinot Noir so fascinating, with a medium body and full-bore flavors of Bing cherry, menthol, a note of prune, generous spice, and a mouthfilling sense of wholeness. Pairing: Pair it with grilled Coho salmon, roasted mushrooms with herbs, or garlic and herb roasted pork tenderloin.
